If you’re not ready to leave the business yet, that’s real. Here’s how to protect yourself as much as possible while you’re still doing it. If you cannot make money while following these rules, then get out as soon as possible. • Charge more and see fewer clients. Higher rates are considered to be less of a crime than lower rates. If you can reduce your client load to one or two clients, that's probably better. 

• Do less full sexual service. You don’t have to do everything just because a client asks or another girl does it. And, in fact, if another girl does it, and so then to compete with her you feel you have to do it, that's the problem. In other words, women outside of this business have to compete with escorts, too, and we don't want escorts turning American sexuality into a race to the bottom.

• Consensual Nonmonogamy: Be sure to ask clients if they have girlfriends or are married and do less sexual stuff with these men and don't see them again.

• Dealing with Age Differences: Have an age range for clients that would be appropriate to see based on your age. Understand who is a baby boomer, a Gen Xer, a millennial, a Gen Z, or in the silent generation, and focus on offering your services to more age-appropriate clients.

• Turning Down Clients: Since you're probably going to get in trouble for this, probably none of these guys are worth it. 

• Money & exit planning: Save aggressively. Think about what your next step looks like — job training, resume help, housing. Keep in mind that although your experience will likely be very different than mine, and who knows maybe there are women who have done escorting and never got in trouble for it, after all you don't know my full story, but after I left the business, is when the sabotage ramped up. 

• Being a Bad Ass Escort:  Honestly, that's probably the wrong approach. You're better off thinking: How can I be the dorkiest escort? While you're doing the job don't concern yourself with your appearance; don't drop money on cosmetic procedures or perfecting your body at the gym. The better looking you are, the better the service you provide, the more sexual stuff you do, the more in trouble you will get. If you really want breast implants, for example, wait until you are out of the business before getting them done. Doing the job with fake breasts is considered to be a bigger crime. 

• Keep track of how many men you have seen or couples or women, for example, and what you did with these people and how much you charged. You might need this information later to defend yourself. For example, you might email friends sharing about how you didn't see that many men, charged high prices, didn't have any married repeat clients, never did anal with clients; or that you saw about three hundred men, but for half of them you just gave a hand job. Be prepared to defend yourself and know what your defense is, ideally before getting into the business.

• Stop after having sex with one hundred men. That's it. Have a limit with it. Anymore and you risk getting really in trouble. 

Harm reduction is smart, but the longer you stay in, the more the costs stack up. Start making your exit plan today, even if it’s slow.
